Students in Dr. Burak Erdim's fall 2017 course ARC 441: History of Contemporary Architecture visited the Special Collections Research Center this week to view materials from early faculty in the College of Design at NC State University. As part of an assignment for the class, students will conduct research and compose a biographical essay and design posters on leaders in the history of the College of Design using primary sources in the SCRC.
During their visit, students viewed materials from the collections of George Matsumoto, Matthew Nowicki, Henry Kamphoefner, James Fitzgibbon, T.C. Howard, Eduardo Catalano, G. Milton Small, Edward "Terry" Waugh, and others who were influential in the legacy of modernist architecture and the early evolution of the NC State College of Design.
